My favorite piece.. a piece of art!
Over the past 3O years Anish Kapoor has gained international acclaim as one of the most influential and significant sculptors of his generation.
His exploration of form and space and his use of colour have profoundly influenced the course of contemporary sculpture. His work has been seen in major exhibitions around the world, including solo exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, the Hayward Gallery, London, ICA Boston, Guggenheim Museum, New York, and his last exhibition at Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Notable public sculptures include Cloud gate at Millennium park, Chicago and Sky Mirror at the Rockefeller Centre, New York. Kapoor is currently working on the world’s largest series of five site specific public commissions for Middlesbrough, England. The first of the series Temenos is due to be unveiled in May.
Anish kapoor has been chosen by Bulgari to reinterpret the iconic B zero1 ring. The celebrated Bulgari ring was launched in 2000. It combined in an innovative manner two iconic Bulgari motifs: the Tubogas and the “BVLGARI” logo. The first examples were in plain yellow or white gold, but soon the proportions of the ring were modified: from mono to multi bands, with or without diamonds. It has been and still is Bulgari’s bestselling ring: 1.000.000 pieces have been sold since its launch.
Anish Kapoor’s greatest contribution features the original combination of pink gold and reflecting steel surfaces. His interpretation merges tradition with contemporary innovation.
The curved forms and the mirror-like surfaces, characteristic of his artworks, find shape in this new design which perfectly represents the contemporary Bulgari style.
It is the first time that a Bulgari creation is interpreted by a contemporary and prominent international artist.
