Emmanuelle Alt Named Editor of Vogue Paris

NEW YORK) It's not exactly surprising, but yet...Emmanuelle Alt has been named editor-in-chief of French Vogue, according to the New York Times' Cathy Horyn (and basically everyone else on Twitter), beating out contender Virginie Mouzat, fashion editor of Le Figaro. One of the world's top stylists who frequently collaborates with the likes of Isabel Marant, Alt has long been outgoing editor Carine Roitfeld's top deputy since the 1990s, when the two worked together at cult glossy 20 Ans. She came to Vogue shortly before Roitfeld took the top spot in late 2000.

UPDATE: Xavier Romatet, president of Condé Nast France, announced the appointment at a press conference on Friday. Alt will begin her new position on February 1. "Emmanuelle has all of the professional and personal qualities needed to continue to makeVogue Paris the leading monthly fashion magazine," he said. "I give her full confidence to embody and lead this demanding brand and to let is live in all of its different dimensions, including digitally." "It's a great honor for me, but also a great pleasure to be at the head of Vogue Paris, which I know very well," echoed Alt. "Working with very talented teams, I will attach myself to developing the incredible potential of Vogue Paris."
